Chalkfest to feature ‘Beyond Us’ book signing, live music

Aug 13, 2021

On Saturday, Aug. 21, as artists “chalk the walks” around Wareham’s Town Hall, the author and illustrator of “Beyond Us” will be on hand to sign books.

The Onset Bay Association’s annual Chalkfest will be held outside Town Hall from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the book signing will take place from noon to 1 p.m.

Author Aaron Polansky teamed up with illustrator Rin Rezendes in 2019 to publish “Beyond Us.” The book is described as “a true story that focuses on diversity and the path that evolved for an artist (Rin) who used his passion to illustrate a book (Beyond Us), and make our world a better place,” according to a press release.

Along with signing books at Chalkfest, Rezendes will serve as the event’s featured artist.

All proceeds from the book sales and signing will go to support the family of Dan McDonald of Carver, who lost his battle with cancer on Aug. 4. A GoFundMe account for the family has been set up at https://bit.ly/2U6jLfy

In addition to the book signing, the event will include a meet and greet with Polansky and Rezendes, a Q&A and a reading.

Chalkfest will also feature a craft fair and Rhode Island jazz singer Kim Trusty, who will play acoustic music.

Registering for a sidewalk square will cost $5. https://onsetvillage60383.wildapricot.org/event-4399533

The OBA asks that Chalkfest attendees wear masks if they are not vaccinated.

The rain date will be Sunday, Aug. 22. For more information, visit www.onsetbay.org or email onsetchalkfest@gmail.com
