Charter Review Committee seeks two more members

Oct 1, 2019

Editor's Note: While Lisa Morales had applied for a spot on the Charter Review Committee, Selectman Jim Munise moved to approve her. Because none of the other Selectman seconded the motion, there was no vote.

The Charter Review Committee is seeking two more members.

The Town Charter is a legal document that outlines the structure of Wareham’s government and outlines the powers and duties of various committees and officials.

Within the charter is a provision that requires the Board of Selectmen to appoint a committee to review the charter and submit recommendations, proposed amendments, and revisions to the charter every ten years. The Committee’s recommendations are submitted to Town Meeting.

The Selectmen appointed the following people on Tuesday night: Holli Van Nest, Judith Whiteside, Peter Dunlop, Mary Ann Silva, Robert Fichtenmayer, Nan Evans, and Dr. Kimberly Shaver-Hood.

Neither Sandy Slavin nor Lisa Morales was appointed to the Charter Review Committee as Slavin received a vote of 2-2-1.

Those interested in applying should contact the Board of Selectmen’s office.
