Chris Coile plays for Damien's Food Pantry
A Wareham musician with a passion for supporting his community is at it again.
Every other week for the remainder of the summer, musician Chris Coile will perform at the Fan Club in support of Damien's Place Food Pantry in Wareham, with the next show to take place this Sunday, June 29.
Coile, who in the past has supported Elks Lodge #1548's scholarship program, the Schwartz Center for Children, Wareham Family Planning, the Upper Cape Chaplaincy, and the Liberia Water Well Project, will play at The Fan Club from 6:30-8:30.
His sets will include '50s and '60s rock 'n' roll, other classics, and a variety of his favorite country songs.
"With the economy the way it is, a lot of families need a helping hand," said Coile. "I am delighted to raise money for such a worthwhile cause."
Damien's helps over 800 families every week, or about 3,000 people, get the food they need as many struggle to do so. People in need of Damiens' help come from all over the South Coast.
"We really appreciate everything he's doing," said Damien's Donna Mountain on behalf of the Board members. "We need all the help we can get."
It's free to attend Coile's shows at the Fan Club, but anyone who donates more than $5 to Damien's will receive one of Coile's three CDs.
"Looking Back" is a collection of rock 'n' roll classics, "A Special Elvis Tribute" features 24 tracks from "the greatest entertainer of the century" according to Coile, and "Country Classics" is a collection of Coile's favorite country songs of all time.
As previously mentioned, Coile is well-known in Wareham and the surrounding area for his many charity efforts. He frequently plays free performances to benefit a variety of causes.
The Fan Club is located at 2859 Cranberry Hwy.
