Community comes out to celebrate 25 years

Residents, staff and family members were out in full force Saturday to celebrate Kindred Transitional Care-Forestview and its 25 years of service to the Wareham community.

The nursing home held its annual barbecue which featured food and live music for residents, their families, staff members and their families.

"We've done this every year since we opened and it's a lovely turnout," said Stephanie Jenness, program coordinator at Forestview.

Jenness said that its a social event that many of the people at Forestview look forward to every year.

"For some residents, it's the one time a year they come out," she said. "It's a huge effort, but it's so worth it."

She said roughly 30 staff members worked the event on Saturday serving 250 meals.

"It's been more people than I expected," said Forestview resident Elaine Quattralli. "It's good for the people that are here."

Jenness said the staff works hard to instill a sense of home and community, from maintenance workers to those in the business office that help families cut through red tape and deal with mountains of paperwork.

"It's a compliment to us that the community members put their trust in us," said Jenness.
