Community members gather for candlelight vigil held for 8-year-old cancer victim
More than 75 mourners gathered for a candlelight vigil on Saturday, July 30 to celebrate the life of an eight-year-old Wareham girl who died after a battle with cancer.
Hailey Jean Pease passed away at her home on Thursday following a four-month battle with acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
Hailey's mother Shannon thanked the crowd for attending and gave an emotional speech describing Hailey's vibrant personality. The crowd gasped as a shooting star appeared in the sky as Shannon prayed that Hailey could see all the lives she had touched.
Hailey was honored for her bravery at the Board of Selectmen meeting on July 26. The Selectmen gave an emotional proclamation for Hailey. Hailey's family attended on her behalf, as she was not feeling well.
