Council on Aging seeks tradesmen to help seniors

Jun 2, 2011

The Council on Aging is seeking plumbers, painters, and electricians to provide discounted services to seniors.

"Wareham has many seniors and there are a lot of things around the home they can't get done," said Council on Aging Board of Directors chair Jim Eubanks. "They are on limited budgets... they need a price break."

Eubanks said he first noticed the need to find tradesmen willing to discount services when he and other volunteers were delivering food to the local elderly through the department's Meals on Wheels program.

Eubanks pointed out most of the seniors live alone and are no longer capable of doing the work themselves.

"They are in tough shape," he said.

The Council on Aging has a short list of businesses willing to participate, but is seeking additional tradesmen before the program officially gets started.

Those interested in providing their services to seniors at a reduced rate should mail their business cards to Jim Eubanks at 15 Seawood Road, Wareham, MA 02571.
