Couple busted with heroin at Main Street apartment
A Wareham man and his girlfriend are behind bars on multiple charges after police found 73 grams of heroin in the man’s apartment on Thursday, Feb. 19.
Christopher Conway, 23, of 1146 Main Street in West Wareham, is being held in lieu of $25,000 cash bail after being charged with a number of felonies, according to Wareham District Court documents.
Conway and his girlfriend, 21-year-old Samantha Howard, were arraigned on charges of trafficking heroin with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm without a firearms identification card, and conspiracy to violate drug law.
Howard is being held in lieu of $5,000 cash bail.
Conway was also charged with possessing a firearm with one violent/drug offense.
According to police, officers executed a search warrant at Conway's home when the couple was sleeping.
The warrant was out of Falmouth District Court, and resulted from an investigation conducted by the Barnstable Police Narcotic Unit and the Falmouth Police Department, according to court documents.
Conway and Howard were handcuffed as police searched the apartment.
Police reported finding 73 grams of heroin hidden under a stuffed animal in what Conway said was the bedroom where his kids stay.
According to police reports, officers also found a Kimber .45 semi-automatic handgun with a laser sight stored between a mattress and box spring.
Police also found digital scales, baggies, multiple cell phones, and $2,800 in cash, according to court documents.
Police say Conway told them that all the weapons and drugs all belonged to him, and that Howard had nothing to with it.
According to court documents, Conway has multiple previous narcotic-related convictions stemming from investigations in Falmouth, and is currently on probation from Plymouth Superior Court for drug offenses.
