Covid cases down as vaccine newly available to very young children

Jun 21, 2022

Covid cases in Wareham were down to 18 last week per the state, and now, covid vaccines are now available for everyone ages 6 months and up, as the federal government has approved both Pfizer and Moderna’s pediatric vaccines.

In recent weeks, weekly case counts have hovered around 40.  Overall, 66% of Wareham residents have received at least one dose of a covid vaccine, while 60% are fully vaccinated.

The nearest state-sponsored vaccination site is in Barnstable, per the state’s vaccine finder website, vaxfinder.mass.gov. That site is offering vaccines to kids between 6 months and 11 years old.

As it has for older children, Southcoast Health will offer vaccination clinics specifically for newly-eligible young children. The organization is currently planning those clinics, which will likely begin in July. For updates, see southcoast.org/covid-19-vaccination.
