Cranberry Highway reconstruction project hearing to be held July 12

Jun 23, 2012

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) will be holding a public hearing on the design aspects of proposed changes to Cranberry Highway on July 12 at 7 p.m. in the Wareham Town Hall Cafeteria.

The purpose of this hearing is to provide the public with the opportunity to become fully acquainted with the proposed reconstruction project. All views and comments made at the hearing will be reviewed and considered to the maximum extent possible.

The Department plans a reconstruction project to the section of Cranberry Highway between the junction of Route 6 and Route 28 eastward to the Bourne town line which is currently slated to start in 2015.

Proposed work includes widening the road to create a four-lane highway with a raised median and shoulders for bicycles, the installation of curbing along the entire project length, the construction of sidewalks, and the regulation of traffic through signals.

Project plans will be on display a half an hour before the hearing begins. A project handout will be made available on the MassDOT website http://www.massdot.state.ma.us/Highway/.

An engineer will also be in attendance to answer questions regarding this project.

MassDOT will also have to obtain the rights to use land in the project for travel purposes. This may include obtaining temporary or permanent easements. MassDOT's policy concerning land acquisitions will be discussed at this hearing.

In case of inclement weather, cancellation announcements will be posted at http://www.massdot.state.ma.us/Highway/.

Written statements and other exhibits may be made in place of or in addition to verbal comments at the hearing and should be sent to Thomas F. Broderick, P.E., Chief Engineer, MassDOT, 10 Park Plaza, Boston, MA 02116, Attention: Project Management Section, Project File No. 117106.

Such submissions will also be accepted at the hearing.

Mailed statements and exhibits intended for inclusion in the public hearing transcript must be postmarked within ten (10) business days of this Public Hearing. Project inquiries may be emailed to dot.feedback.highway@state.ma.us.

Written views received by MassDOT subsequent to the date of this notice and up to five (5) days prior to the date of the hearing shall be displayed for public inspection and copying at the time and date listed above.
