Jan 15, 2020

The Wareham Cultural Council awarded 26 grants for events throughout the year, which they announced at the Jan. 14 Board of Selectmen meeting. The grants totaled $9,600, all funded by the state.

The group focuses on events in town. This year, the grants will fund public events, along with enrichment and special events in the schools.

Those looking forward to the summer can add the Wareham Oyster Festival, Onset Chalk-Full of Fun Street Painting Festival, and the Beach Kite Festival to their itineraries.

A number of musicians also received grants: Kirk Whipple will bring his piano duo to town, Music from Land’s End Wareham will return, the Onset Summer of Love Concert series will continue, and Jackson Gillman will perform Musical Nostalgia for the Council on Aging.

The grants will also support educational activities for children in town, as the Council funded the Summer Reading Program at the library, a field trip to the Zeiterion, field trips to the Whaling Museum, and robotics at the Boys and Girls Club.
