Cultural Council awards $18,000 in grants
The Wareham Cultural Council has awarded $18,654 in grants to various arts, science and humanities events happening in Wareham and beyond later this year.
The Onset Bay Association received $1,084 for its Chalk-Full-O-Fun Festival and $1,500 for its Summer of Love Concert Series.
The Friends of the Wareham Free Library received $1,200 for adult programs and $1,500 for its summer reading programs.
MUSIC Dance.edu received $500 for a hip-hop chair dance for seniors.
Music from Land’s End received $1,200 for its summer concert series.
The Native Plant Trust received $700.
The Old Colony Historical Society received $200.
The Buzzards Bay Coalition received $1,800.
The New England Coastal Wildlife Alliance received $500 for its efforts to protect diamondback terrapins in local waters.
The Dog Park Affiliation of Wareham received $775 for its Unleash the PAWsibilities Area Youth Creative Arts contests.
Roger Bruno received $700 for “A Celebration of Song — The Great American Songbook and Beyond.”
The Wareham Council on Aging received $1,600 for its “Music Through the Ages” concert.
Mary Wilson received $500 for her “Puppets, Paul and Mary” show.
The Wareham Land Trust received $800 for its Winter Wonder program series.
The Wareham Minutemen and Militia Companies received $1,500 for “Wearing Wareham – A 1776 Colonial Fashion and History Presentation.”
The Swifts Beach Improvement Association received $600 for the grand opening of the new playground.
The Tri-County Music Association received $200 for complimentary senior tickets.
Stephen Lewis received $154 for “May Day: An International Poster Exhibition.”
Stephen Rogers received $641 for Gateway Improv.
Matt York received $500 for “Johnny Cash Songs and Stories.”
The next grant cycle begins on Sept. 1, 2023 and runs until mid-October.
