Daniel G. Doherty, 81

Daniel G. Doherty of West Wareham, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2024. He was 81 years old.

He was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather. He passed comfortably at Tobey Hospital, surrounded by love just after being cleanly shaved and a teddy bear tucked in that his granddaughter gave him, with his beloved wife’s perfume on it. They were married for 54 years, having met when they were 13 and 14 years old.

Dan was born and raised in Brockton. He lived with his wife, Oneida and three children for many years in West Wareham. He resided these last few years with his daughter Pam in West Wareham. Dan was a family man and was always investing in properties, owned Doherty’s Towing and Garage, then later Doherty’s Corner Store, all of which was to provide for his children and grandchildren.

Dan built their family home in West Wareham and took great pride in the beautifully landscaped gardens and breathtaking backyard, with a swimming pool and Koi Pond which was like going to the finest vacation spot you could imagine. It was the perfect setting for backyard barbeques and pool parties.

Dan was predeceased by his wife, Oneida survived by his son, Daniel G. Doherty Jr. of Fall River and his wife Beth Doherty of Plymouth; his son, John M. Doherty and his husband Joseph C. Sharameta of Bridgewater; his daughter, Pamela L. Doherty and her Partner Andrew Balthazar of West Wareham. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren, Megan L. Davis (Doherty), Katelyn E. Doherty, Daniel J. Doherty, Kyle C. Sharameta, Adrian Page, Jillian T. MacDonald, Logan D. MacDonald, Emmerson G. MacDonald; Great Grandson, Lucas Davis. He was predeceased by granddaughter, Hannah N. MacDonald (his angel).

A graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Monday, May 13 at Colebrook Cemetery in Whitman, followed by a Celebration of Life at his son’s home in Bridgewater.
