David J. Silva, 63, co-founder Wareham JBA, USMC Vietnam veteran

David J. Silva, 63, died unexpectedly on November 24 at Tobey Hospital. He was the son of the late Antone and Camelia (Monteiro) Silva.

Born in Wareham, David graduated from Wareham High School. He was named MVP of the basketball team and also played football. He was a co-founder of the Wareham Junior Basketball Association and was a coach and referee.

David worked as a laborer for Perini Construction and was manager for Stephen’s Lounge and Pierview Restaurant both in Onset.

David was a U.S. Marine Corps Vietnam veteran and was a member of the Dudley Brown V.F.W. Post #2426 in Onset.

He is survived by his sister, Wendy Feeney of Whitman; his aunt, Mabel Rose of Wareham; his fiancée, Christina Kunze of West Wareham and her children, Sandra, Mia, and Jesse Kunze Sarkisian, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, the late Anthony Silva and the late Paul Silva.

David's funeral will be from the Chapman, Cole & Gleason, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Rt. 28), Wareham on Wednesday, Nov. 30 at 8:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick’s Church, High Street, at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Mass. National Cemetery, Bourne. Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m.
