Democrats in Wareham will hold their annual caucus on June 13 to to elect eleven delegates and four alternates to the 2015 Massachusetts Democratic Convention

Delegates will be equally divided between men and women in accordance with Democratic Party rules. Anyone at least 18 years old and registered as a Wareham Democrat as of January 31, 2015, is welcome to attend the caucus and run for a delegate position.

The Caucus will be held at the Wareham Free Library, 59 Marion Road, at 11 a.m. The Convention will be held on Saturday, Sept. 19 at the Mass Mutual Center in Springfield.

“Massachusetts Democrats chosen at their caucuses will gather to network with other organizers around the Commonwealth, and to hear from elected officials about the important values we share,” said Wareham Democratic Town Committee Chair John Donahue. “Caucuses are an important step in growing our party engagement at the local level.”

Candidates for delegate and alternate must be present at the caucus and consent to nomination in writing. Candidates may make a two-minute statement and may distribute materials on their behalf. All ballots will be written, secret and recorded by the caucus teller. Anyone not elected as delegate or alternate delegate at the caucus may apply to be an “add-on” delegate in the following categories: youth (age 35 and under), minority and disabled.

Challenges to the Delegate-selection process MUST be filed with the Massachusetts Democratic Party, 77 Summer Street, Boston, MA 02110 within ten days after the caucus.
