Dog park art and literary contest

Jul 7, 2021

The Dog Park Affiliation of Wareham is once again hosting its “Unleash the PAWSibilities” youth art and literary contest.

This year, the contest’s theme is “Animals, Our Covid Companions Year 2.” Children can focus on the pets and wildlife that brought comfort and joy during quarantine or on celebrating the end of quarantine with animal friends.

The contest is divided into three age groups: ages 5 to 9, 10 to 14, and 15 to 18.

Visual art entries must be two-dimensional and no larger than 9 by 12 inches, but can be any medium or style, including mixed media.

Literary works, including poetry, a short story, lyrics, a letter, or essay, can be up to one page long.

All contestants are entered into a prize pool raffle, and can enter both the visual and literary contests to increase their chances.

Winners will also receive trophies.

Submissions will be accepted from July 6 through August 6, with a family celebration to be scheduled for mid-August.

Submissions can be dropped off at the Decas School, Wareham Free Library, the Onset Bay Association, Music of the Bay in Buzzards Bay, or the Soule Homestead in Middleboro. Submissions become the property of DPAW.

Submissions will be displayed at the Wareham Post Office on Main Street and on WCTV later this summer.
