Donald Henry Angus, 86,

Aug 15, 2014

Donald Henry Angus, 86, of Wareham died Aug. 7 2014. Don, the son of Henry and Mary Elizabeth Angus, loving husband for more than sixty years of the late Nancy C. Angus, and brother of Dr. Ralph Angus, passed away in Naples, Fla., after a brief illness.

He is survived by his daughters Carol, Deborah and Nancy and his son Don, his granddaughters Charlotte and Elizabeth and grandson James, as well as his brother Dr. Ralph Angus, also of Wareham. Don was also the grandfather of the late Robert Henry Tomkinson.

Don was a graduate of Harvard College in 1949 and of Harvard Law School in 1951. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving as an officer and investigator in the Office of Special Investigations. He then worked for Mobil Oil and the Seeburg Corporation in a successful corporate career before returning to Wareham.

With his wife Nancy he founded several businesses such as Upper Cape Realty, Maxi-Gas and Cartland of Cape Cod as well as a law practice.

He liked any business where he could work with interesting people and get to know his neighbors. A born salesman, he always said that the only way you can be a success is if you believe in what you sell. So, he sold real estate in Wareham.

He loved his Beetle Cat sailboat and time on Buttermilk Bay. He could often be found walking his Old English Sheepdog on the Canal, around Jefferson Shores or around Cartland.

A memorial service will be held at the Bourne United Methodist Church, 37 Sandwich Road in Bourne on Monday, Aug.18 at 11 a.m.

Don was an avid supporter of the local YMCA from its inception and was delighted by its success, so, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Gleason Family YMCA.
