Don't forget deadline for dog licenses
Time is running out to get your dog licensed at the Wareham Town Hall Clerk's Office without having to pay a late fee.
The Wareham Animal Control Department has been actively contacting all dog owners who are in violation of the state law that requires dogs to be rabies vaccinated and licensed in the town in which they reside.
"Don't wait for us to call you in order to avoid paying late fees and possibly receiving a $100 citation," said Wareham Animal Control Officer Cheryl Gorveatt-Dill.
To obtain a license, a dog owner should bring a copy of the dog's rabies certificate to the Town Clerk's office in Town Hall at 54 Marion Road, Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
A dog can be licensed by mail if the owner includes a self-addressed stamped envelope, a copy of the rabies certificate and a check made out to the Town of Wareham in the appropriate amount.
Prior to April 1, the cost is$10 for spayed/neutered dogs and $13 for those not spayed/neutered.
For dogs who need rabies shots, Family Pet and Supply at 3042 Cranberry Highway will hold a shot clinic from noon to 3 p.m. on March 29.
