Doris E. (Casassa) Deckel, 90, homemaker

Doris E. (Casassa) Deckel, age 90, died May 9, 2010 at Tidewell Hospice in Florida. She was the wife of the late Albert W. Deckel (Dzickiewicz), who died in May of 2001.

Born in Roslindale on March 30, 1920, Doris was the daughter of Augustus and Livia Casassa, of Roslindale. She was a graduate of Chandler School for Ladies. Doris and Al lived in Walpole for many years, subsequently moving to Cape Cod where they retired. Doris moved to Florida more than three years ago.

Doris was a lover of birds, a wonderful Italian cook never happier than when cooking for her family, and a loving mother and grandmother. More than anything else, she loved caring for her family, whether as mother, grandmother, sister, or daughter. She is remembered as a woman full of generosity and devoted to a simple life of family and friends.

Doris is survived by her three children, Jacqueline Wides and her husband Jeffrey, of North Port, FL, Wallace Deckel and his wife Martha, of Millbury, and Andrew Deckel, of Florida; as well as her grandchildren Matthew, Alan, Raymond, Kimberly and Sarah Deckel and Bill Wides.

Her funeral service will be Monday, May 17 at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Rt. 28), Wareham at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in the Mass. National Cemetery, Bourne. Visitation will be Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service.
