Douglas S. Westgate, 69
Douglas S. Westgate, 69, of East Wareham, passed away June 7 at Tobey Hospital. He is the husband of 51 years to Mary (Maki) Westgate of East Wareham.
Douglas was born in Wareham the son of the late Almon W. and Dorothy E. (Flood) Westgate.
Douglas attended Wareham Public Schools and was an U.S. Army veteran.
Douglas was a member of the Wareham Conservation Commission for 36 years, an amateur archaeologist, and antique collector.
He loved his family, being with friends, trips to the casino and his special, loyal and faithful companion, Cooper.
Douglas worked in the cranberry industry for many years, most recently as a consultant for Cran AG of Wareham.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Marie Kumlin of Plymouth and Eric Westgate of East Wareham. He is the brother of Almon W. Westgate III of Wareham, Arthur L. Westgate of Middleborough, Viella F. Anderson of Florida, Brenda J. Messina of Maine, and Wendy L. Westgate of Wareham. He is the grandfather of Michael, Ashley, and Stephanie Kumlin, Collin Westgate, and Daniel Smith. He is the great-grandfather of Cameron Kumlin. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend memorial visiting hours to be held Thursday, June 14, from 3 to 6 p.m. in the Wareham Village Funeral Home, 5 Center Street.
