Easter Bunny sighted on Saturday
The Easter Bunny was sighted throughout town on Saturday, apparently practicing for the big day this Sunday with an egg hunt in Onset and an egg hunt in Tihonet Village.
The Wareham Lions Club hosted a breakfast of pancakes, sausages and orange juice breakfast at Salerno's before ushering families across the street to Gazebo Park for an egg hunt.
"We had fun, the kids had a great time," said Mark Salerno, who said that the 3,000 donated eggs were snatched up in 11 minutes and that the event's 100-plus attendees raised an estimated $675 for Wareham High School Scholarships through ticket sales and a raffle.
The Easter Bunny was spotted by eager children (and some politicos who noticed Mr. Cottontail carried a campaign sign in his Easter basket) at the Onset event, and then he reappeared further down the bunny trail in Tihonet Village for another Egg Hunt sponsored by the A.D. Makepeace company.
In Tihonet, the Easter Bunny posed for pictures with kids. Over 170 kids sought 600 eggs and also received goodie bags. Many participants also took advantage of an opportunity of free face-painting by volunteer Diane Merrill of Cultural Care Au Pair.
The Easter Bunny's next appearance will be at the Gleason Family YMCA this Saturday from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Join him for a hearty pancake breakfast with all the fixings.
Admission includes breakfast and photos and is $6 for children, $8 for adults, and $20 for a family. Call the Gleason Family YMCA at 508-295-9622 for more information.
