Elements caters to workout needs of women
Elements is a comprehensive gym for women, providing many services such as personal trainers and diet information. The idea, according to owner Christine Fantoni, is to make working-out fun and put women at ease while they get into shape. The gym is located at Wareham Crossing, a location Fantoni says she chose because women could come there to workout and run their daily errands afterwards. "We want it to be easy for women to take care of themselves.”
The gym has televisions on their cardio machines, a TRX suspension training room, and a spacious dance studio where women can take part in classes such as Zumba and belly-dancing. There is also a sauna and a hydro massage bed.
Signing up for a one year membership entitles you to three free personal training sessions.
One benefit of gyms designed specifically for women is that they they can work out without the self-consciousness, and intimidation that can be a part of the co-ed gym experience.
Elements member Debbie Sones says that the atmosphere was a big draw to her when she became a member. “Curves is one dimensional, and the Y is more of a family place.” She cites the discomfort she felt in the weight room of a co-ed gym, where men would be grunting like animals as they lifted weights. “It’s very intimidating.”
