Elks donate $4,000 to Toys for Tots

Dec 27, 2022

In the spirit of giving this holiday season, the Wareham-New Bedford Elks Lodge #73, along with members of the public, donated over $4,000 to the Lodge’s Toys for Tots campaign.

The campaign was run by the Massachusetts State Police Association in cooperation with the U.S. Marines.

The Elks Toys for Tots Committee, chaired by Jonie Ball, came together to purchase and transport hundreds of toys, including bicycles, skateboards, snowboards, games and dolls for children ages newborn to 14.

“This is a proud moment for our Lodge that we can continue to serve our community in a positive way,” a press release from the organization read. “This project is another great example of ‘ELKS CARE ELKS SHARE,’ part of the creed of our Order.”

The Elks thanked the Grand Lodge for contributing $400 to the campaign, as well as the Elks Lodge #73 kitchen staff for donating $750 in tips.

The Elks also thanked Toys for Tots Committee member Perry Gerlach for the use of his trailer to transport gifts to the Massachusetts State Police barracks in Bourne.
