Erik Cole Pesta, 40, of Wareham died Tuesday, May 9 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston after a long illness. He was the husband of Erica (DeSisto) Pesta.

Born in Wareham, Erik was the son of Deborah (Mestieri) and Joseph V. Pesta of Wareham. He graduated from Wareham High School, Class of 1995, and received his bachelors of science from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. Erik worked as production planner for EMC Corp. in Hopkinton.

He is survived by his wife Erica; his children, Lucy Pesta and Joseph Pesta both of Wareham; his parents Deborah (Mestieri) and Joseph V. Pesta of Wareham, his sister, Sarahbeth Pesta of Port St. Lucie, Florida, and his maternal grandparents, Albert and Joan Mestieri of Wareham.

His funeral will be from the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Route 28), Wareham on Saturday, May 13, at 8 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick’s Church, High St., Wareham at 9 a.m. Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Wareham. Visiting hours will be Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
