Esther Grassia, 80

Esther (Giuffre), 80, of Onset, formerly of Watertown, died Feb. 19 at Falmouth Hospital. She was the wife of the late Joseph R. Grassia.

Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Leo & Concetta (Velardo) Giuffre. Raised in Watertown, she graduated from Watertown High School. A summer resident of Onset for many years, she moved there year-round in 1984.

Mrs. Grassia was wage and salary administrator for Bentley College. She also owned Lady Esther’s Pastry Shop in Watertown. A member of Point Independence Yacht Club in Onset, she served as president of its 1st Mate’s Club. She was also a founding member of Onset Bay Association.

Survivors include her son, Ralph J. Grassia of Onset; her brother, Guy Giuffre of Edgartown; her sister-in-law, Judith Giuffre of Onset, and several loving nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, John L. Giuffre, and her sister, Frances Cosentino.

Her funeral will be from the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Rt. 28), Wareham on Sat., Feb. 23, 2013 at 9:00 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick’s Church, High St., Wareham at 10:00 AM. Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Wareham. Visiting hours will be Friday from 5 – 8 PM.
