Fall rummage sale attracts deal seekers
There are deals to be found at the Church of the Good Shepherd's fall rummage sale, held twice a year, but you have to know when to go.
"I look out for this sale in the paper," said Sheila Pierce of Wareham on Saturday.
The jeans that she found for $1 each at the sale were for her husband and son: both are in the construction business and the used jeans were perfect for getting paint all over.
From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., people rummaged through clothing, shoes, linens, domestics, books, puzzles and toys. The combination of quality items for low prices and all proceeds donated to charity kept spirits high in the basement of the church.
From clothing for $1 each to dreamcatchers for just 25 cents, a variety of items were donated by community members for the cause. By the end of the sale, the organizers offered a special sale: shoppers could fill the entire bag with whatever they wanted for $5.
The next big event the church will host is a Christmas Basket sale, where church members create and donate gift baskets.
The next rummage sale will be held in spring.
