Families hit the 'slopes' in Onset after snowstorm

Jan 8, 2017

There's usually something to do at Onset Beach, even in the middle of winter. On Sunday, with more than a foot of snow covering the ground according to the National Weather Service, families packed the bluffs overlooking the harbor for some sledding.

By late afternoon the roads were plowed, the sun was shining and temperatures were cold, but not bitter – perfect for the slopes.

Greg Travers of Marion arrived with his young son Owen in tow. As recent transplants to Marion, Greg said he was searching for the ideal sledding spot. And he found it in Onset.

"We searched around a little in Marion," said Greg. "Then we found this spot. It's the best."
