Fire causes significant damage to Monarch Drive mobile home

Mar 23, 2016

Another mobile home went up in flames this week, this time at 155 Monarch Dr., according to the Wareham Fire Department.

The department reported that the fire was reported at 8:28 p.m. Tuesday night, at the mobile home owned by Marilyn Johnson. Though neither Johnson nor anyone else was home at the time of the fire, and no one was injured, the trailer itself suffered an estimated $80,000 worth of damages from heavy smoke and flames, as well as intense heat, the department said.

The Wareham Fire Department was assisted by the Onset Fire Department, and Wareham Emergency Medical Services. There were three engines, one ladder, and four other fire department vehicles, and 20 firefighters on scene, nine of whom were on coverage.

The fire was reported all out at 10:45 p.m., but the department reported the fire is still under investigation by the Wareham Fire Department. Wareham firefighter Paul Reedy said it has “not really” been deemed suspicious.
