A fire destroyed a shed at a home on Wareham Lake Shore Drive Thursday afternoon and spread to the back of an RV before it was put out by Wareham firefighters.

About a dozen firefighters and three trucks were on the scene after firefighters received a call through the Wareham Police Department around 3 p.m., according to Wareham Fire Chief Robert McDuffy.

"When we hear shed fire we think of the exposures to the shed," McDuffy said, noting the two homes and RV in close proximity to the shed.

He said it took four or five minutes to bring the fire down and the fire investigator was on the scene determining the cause. The fire caused an estimated $6,000 in damage to the shed and its contents.

Witnesses said the a 12-year-old boy at the home called in the fire, but the homeowners were not home.
