Fire erupts inside dog treat bakery
A fire ignited at Wareham's dog treat specializing Preppy Puppy Bakery at 2380 Cranberry Highway on the evening of Tuesday, June 23.
Firefighters were notified of the fire on Tuesday evening after a commercial alarm activated in the building, according to photographer David Curran. Photos from the scene showed dense smoke billowing out of the front doors of the building at 6:50 p.m.
According to the Wareham Fire Department, firefighters knocked down most of the fire by 7:02 p.m. The department had to request a large portable fan from the Middleboro Fire Department to remove the heavy smoke from the Preppy Puppy building. The fire drew in mutual aid from the Onset and Carver Fire Departments, according to the Wareham Fire Department.
No injuries were reported by the Wareham Fire Department. The cause of the fire is under investigation, but does not appear to be suspicious, according to the fire department.
The extent of any damage to the property is currently unknown.
