Francisco DaSilvia, 81

Francisco DaSilvia, 81, of Wareham, formerly of Taunton, died January 1 in Boston Medical Center. He was the husband of Mary (Bulcao) DaSilvia and the son of the late Francisco I. and Maria M. (dosSantos) DaSilva.

He was born in Faial, Azores and lived in Taunton for many years before moving to Wareham.

Mr. DaSilvia worked for Corcoran Shoe in Stoughton for 29 years. He then worked for Alden Shoe Manufacturing in Middleborough for 11 years before retiring.

He loved fishing.

He was a member of Irmandade Do Divino Espirito Santo Do Pico and Union Portugeusa Benficente.

Survivors include his widow, Mary (Bulcao) DaSilvia; 2 brothers, Jose DaSilva and his wife Marta and Serafim DaSilva and his wife Maria; a sister, Maria E. Medeiros and her husband Sergio all of Oakville, Canada; 3 nieces and 4 nephews. He was the brother of the late Gabriel DaSilva.

His funeral will be held at 9 a.m. on Thursday, January 5 from the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Hwy., Wareham followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Church, 82 High St., Wareham. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Wareham.

Visiting hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
