Frederick D. Hill, 71

Frederick D. Hill, 71, of Onset, died Monday, Oct. 26, 2015 at Boston Medical Center. He was the husband of Rosalie P. (Sullivan) Hill to whom he had been married for 39 years.

Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Rita G. (Francis) Hill. A graduate of Northeastern University, Mr. Hill worked for the Archdiocese of Boston for many years before working for Sears until his retirement. He was a previous resident of West Roxbury and Roslindale before moving to Onset in 2005.

Mr. Hill was an avid sports fan of the Red Sox and Patriots and enjoyed working in his yard, travelling to New Hampshire and Maine. He also loved listening to 50’s music and could name most any band from that era.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and served during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1970. He was discharged as a Staff Sergeant.

Survivors include his wife; his brother, Robert Hill and his wife Cecelia, of Nahant; his sister, Nancy Hannon and her husband Larry of W. Roxbury; his brother in-law, Jack Sullivan and his wife Ann, of Monument Beach. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, the late James Hill; his sister, the late Barbara Ann Hill, and his brother in-law, the late Joseph McDonald.

Funeral will be from the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Rt. 28) on Monday, Nov. 2, 2015 at 10 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Margaret’s Church, Main Street, Buzzards Bay at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Mass.
