Garden Club celebrates Arbor Day

May 13, 2010

The Wareham Garden Club celebrated Arbor Day this year by planting a red bud tree outside the office of Wareham Fire Chief Robert McDuffy.

"Each year the club tries to add to the beauty of the town with a new planting," explained Rita Madden, chairman of the Garden Club's Civic Beautification Committee. "This year we also want to acknowledge the service given to the town by the Wareham Fire District and Water Department. We are especially grateful to superintendant Mike Martin, for installing water spigots at several town garden sights that are maintained by the Wareham Garden Club."

Last year, the Garden Club planted spruce trees outside Wareham Town Hall with the assistance of A.D. Makepeace Co. The club has also planted dogwood trees on the Town Green and at the Minot Forest area.

The Wareham Garden Club is a member of The Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts and The National Garden Clubs, Inc.
