Gatemen lose 5-1 in game two of championship

The Wareham Gatemen fell against the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox 5-1 in game two of the Cape Cod Baseball League Championship Thursday night at Spillane Field.

The Red Sox got on the scoreboard early with one run in the second inning. They tacked on another run in the fifth.

The Red Sox added three more in the eighth inning giving them the 5-0 lead. A bunt with bases loaded by Red Sox Justin Shafer gave Y-D two of those eighth inning runs.

Wareham was able to bounce back a bit by scoring one run in the bottom of the eighth. With bases loaded, Mott Hyde batted one home.

Despite the small surge, the Gatemen did not score any more runs Thursday night, and the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox took game two by 4 runs.

The final deciding game of the best-of-three championship series will be played at Yarmouth-Dennis on Friday at 4 p.m.
