Jul 27, 2011

The Wareham Gatemen's record fell to 18-21 after the team was handed its fifth straight loss by the Harwich Mariners on July 26. Wareham blew a 2-1 lead in the 5th inning and went on to lose 6-2.

On July 22, the Gatemen fell to Falmouth 4-2. The team suffered another loss on  July 23 against Harwich. The Gatemen stranded runners on-base in the 2nd, 5th, 6th, and 7th innings, failing to take advantage of game-tying opportunities. The Harwich Mariners won 3-1.

The team's losing streak continued with a loss to Hyannis on July 24. The Gatemen could only muster two hits, losing their sixth and final regular-season game of the year against the Habor Hawks 2-1.

The Gatemen offense faltered yet again on July 25 with a 6-2 loss to the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox.

Despite suffering through tough losses, the Gatemen remain in third place in the Cape Cod Baseball League Western Division.

The Gatemen next play in Chatham on Saturday, July 30 at 7 p.m.

In other Gatemen news, four Wareham players have been selected to play in the annual Cape Cod Baseball Leagure All-Star Game on July 29 at Fenway Park in Boston.  Pitcher Justin Amlung (Louisville) and Gatemen closer Konner Wade (Arizona) will be joined by infielder Max Muncy (Baylor) and outfielder John Andreoli (UCONN) on the Western Division All-Star team.
