George D. Jenney, 80, of Marion passed away Sunday, July 3 at Morton Hospital in Taunton.  George was the husband of the late Barbara (Griffith) Jenney.

He was born in Marion on August 25, 1930 the son of the late Norman W. and Hannah (Pittsley) Jenney.

George attended Marion public schools and was a Korean War U.S. Army veteran.  He and his family owned and operated Jenney’s Garage on Point Road in Marion for many years.

He was a Marion firefighter, member of the Board of Fire Engineers, Fire Warden and the Marion Fire Chief from 1980 until his retirement in 1999.

He is a late member of the Retired Fire Chiefs Association and the Benjamin D. Cushing VFW Post 2425 in Marion.

George loved helping his family and friends and restoring antique cars.

He is survived by his children: Robin Kendrick and her husband Rick of E. Freetown and David Jenney and his wife Sherry of Wareham, and his sisters Edna Johnson and Faith Leavitt both of Marion. He is also survived by four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and many loving relatives and friends. He is the brother of the late Norman Jenney.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, July 7 from 4-7 p.m. at the Wareham Village Funeral Home, 5 Center Street, Wareham. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. A graveside service with Committal, Firefighters' Last Alarm, and Military Honors will be held on Friday, July 8 at 10 a.m. in Little Neck Cemetery, Hermitage Road, Marion.
