George A. Leslie, 89
George A. Leslie, 89, of Parkwood Beach, Wareham, formerly of Arlington and Reading, passed away Thursday Sept. 4, at home. Mr. Leslie was the devoted husband of Barbara (Reynolds) of Parkwood Beach for 63 years. Mr. Leslie was born in Medford the son of the late George and Viola (Johnson) Leslie.
A World War II Navy veteran, George was a pilot. He was a 30-plus year and lifetime member of Local 7 Iron Workers of Boston. He was also a lifetime member of the Wakefield Lodge of Elks and a longtime member of the Wareham Lodge of Elks.
Mr. Leslie was the cherished father of Karen Leslie Monteforte of Wareham and Wayne Leslie and his wife Marcy of Melrose. He was the loving grandfather of Brendan, Seth, Evan, Danielle, Kyle and his fiancée Jennifer, Chad and great grandfather of Evan. He was the brother in-law of Patricia and Philip Waterman, Maureen and George Reynolds. He was also survived by the friends and relatives of many loving nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Marilyn Leitch.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday Sept. 8, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Wareham Village Funeral Home, 5 Center Street, Wareham. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. His funeral will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 9, at 10:15 a.m. from the Wareham Village Funeral Home followed by his funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in Saint Patrick’s Church 82 High Street Wareham, MA. Interment with Military Honors will follow at 1:15 p.m. at the Massachusetts National Cemetery 1 Bennington Blvd. Bourne.
