Wareham resident Geri Graham won the "Volunteer of the Year" award from the non profit human services agency Community Care Services at its volunteer and intern recognition event on April 4.

The agency honored Graham, a volunteer member of Community Care Services’ Board of Directors since 2006, because "her energy, goodness and enthusiasm have contributed to the agency’s success in fundraising events," according to a press release.

Graham has written, phoned and e-mailed many vendors seeking support for the agency and encourages all involved in those efforts. Graham also volunteers with several other organizations.

Community Care Services recognized 250 volunteers and interns during its April 4 celebration at its headquarters in Taunton.

Tom Fisher, President and CEO of Community Care Services, thanked the volunteers and interns who contributed to the agency’s mission, namely, “to maximize the potential in all of us.”

Fisher said that the agency would not be able to provide services to over 8,000 people a year without the assistance of talented and generous volunteers and interns.

Community Care Services has over thirty diverse programs throughout Southeastern Massachusetts and parts of Rhode Island and Connecticut. It is a participating agency of United Way. More information on volunteer and intern opportunities can be found at www.communitycareservices.org.
