“Beautiful music is the art of the prophets that can calm the agitations of the soul; it is one of the most magnificent and delightful presents God has given us.” Martin Luther.
Are you looking for respite from the stresses of everyday living? If you are then come on down to the First Congregational Church Wareham for the return engagement of Steve Gretz and Leslie Lee, in concert on May 30, 2014 at 7:00 PM. Steve and Leslie have their roots in gospel music, but sing a variety of genres. When asked to describe their music Steve said “We like to bill our concerts as “Songs to lift spirits and soothe souls”—featuring songs with positive messages of encouragement and hope for better things to come. We try to find songs that speak to the things we share in common—not to things that divide us. We sing about love and caring, about building bridges, and about working for peace and justice.”
Steve and Leslie cover some of their favorite songwriters, but also perform their own original works. One of these original songs is called “One Great Hour of Sharing” which was written as part of the annual fund drive of an inter-denominational relief organization called Church World Service that provides disaster and economic relief around the world and in this country. To hear this song go to the video link. The First Congregational Church is also connected to Church World Service through donations made by the parishioners to this cause.
