Vietnam veteran Jim Bruce will serve as the grand marshal of this year's Veterans Day parade.

Bob White, one of the coordinators of this year's events, made the announcement at the Tuesday, October 8, Board of Selectmen's meeting.

Bruce is the owner of Wareham-based E.L. Morse Lumber.

"I'm proud and humbled to have this duty on behalf of Veterans Day," said Bruce.

Bruce got a little choked up as he talked about a recent visit to Camp Lejeune in North Carolina, where he trained before going overseas.

"I think the people who chose you chose wisely," said Selectmen Chair Peter Teitelbaum.

Selectman Alan Slavin added: "I'd also like to personally thank Jim."

White noted that the Town of Bourne has become more and more involved in Wareham's yearly events.

"I don't want to lose sight of the fact that this is becoming a two-community event," he said.

Veterans Day is Monday, November 11. Wareham Week will have more information about the events in the coming weeks.
