The Wareham Land Trust will hold three grand opening tours of the new Red Brook Trail Network. The network passes through land owned by the Wareham Land Trust, the Onset Water District and the Trustees.
Two of the trails—Jasper’s Trail and Turtle Trail—will be finished and open to the public by the end of October. The third, Kora’s trail, will be completed during the winter.
The new trails connect to the already existing trails at the Trustees’ Lyman Reserve, and pass through the Red Brook watershed and adjacent Atlantic Coastal Pine Barrens.
A hike on Monday, Oct. 30 at 9 a.m. will cover Jasper’s Trail. A hike on Tuesday, Nov. 7 will cover Turtle Trail. A hike on Sunday, Nov. 19 will cover both Jasper’s Trail and Turtle Trail.
The hikes will cover 2.5 to 3 miles and will take approximately 3 hours. The Wareham Land Trust recommends that those going on the hikes should expect trails of moderate difficulty, should wear durable hiking shoes and should bring water and layers. Visit warehamlandtrust.org to register.
