Guests enjoy a ‘berry’ good time at Bog to Table dinner in Wareham

Oct 4, 2018

Clad in brown waders and up to their waists in red cranberries, attendees of the third annual Bog to Table dinner on Thursday night looked postcard-ready.

Guests laughed and snapped selfies with handfuls of the berries, fully immersed in the quintessential New England scene while others paused to enjoy a cocktail on the water.

“It’s an amazing experience,” said Jane Karen Benson of Kingston. “I was waiting all year to get my tickets.”

A total of 250 guest from all over the country turned out for the annual dinner hosted by the A.D. Makepeace Company and Ocean Spray Cranberries, some from as far away as Maryland.

“We have people who plan their whole vacations around this event,” said A.D. Makepeace Company President Mike Hogan. “It’s amazing to see how it’s grown.”

While guests were busy in the bogs, the caterers of the dinner prepared several dishes incorporating cranberries and other local products to showcase the state’s harvest.

“Massachusetts has a lot to offer,” Hogan said. “We really enjoy being able to connect local farmers.”

The berries, of course, remained the star of the show.

“People love getting up close and personal,” Hogan said. “And we love inviting them out here.”
