Haunted history at Fearing Tavern

Oct 7, 2013

The Fearing Tavern and other historic Wareham landmarks will play host to a group of ghost hunting thrill-seekers this coming Saturday, as paranormal events company Legend Trips holds its third annual “Haunted History Night.”

The event, which will benefit the Wareham Historical Society, will include dinner, ghost hunting, and lectures.

“As paranormal investigators, we are fortunate when we have the opportunity to check out such historic places,” said Wareham resident and Legend Trips co-founder Tim Weisberg. “And the paranormal community is always happy to give back; that’s why we created Legend Trips, to give people access to these locations and to help raise money to keep them going.”

Tickets for the event are $99, and include dinner, lectures and hours of guided investigation in the Fearing Tavern (circa 1690), the One-Room Schoolhouse (1825), the Old Methodist Meetinghouse (1835) and the Union Chapel (1880). Snacks and beverages are provided throughout the night and are included in the ticket price.

The event will feature Weisberg and his co-hosts from WBSM-AM’s Spooky Southcoast radio show, fellow Wareham residents Matt Costa and Matt Moniz; Jeff Belanger, author and host of the television programs New England Legends (premiering Oct. 31 on PBS) and 30 Odd Minutes, as well as the writer/researcher for Travel Channel’s Ghost Adventures; Andrew Lake, author and paranormal investigator; and Spirit Mediums Tiffany Rice and Stephanie Burke, hosts of Wareham Community Television’s Spirit Connections program.

The group will also be utilizing technology in its attempts to prove the existence of ghosts in these buildings, as well as employing “old-school” techniques as well. Attendees are invited to bring along their cameras, voice recorders, EMF detectors and other tools in order to assist in their search for the unknown.

Tickets can be purchased by visiting www.LegendTrips.com and should be purchased in advance.
