Helen Briggi, 77
Helen E. “Betsy” (Patterson) Briggi, 77, of Wareham died Jan. 30 in Tobey Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband of 29 years, Robert Lawrence Briggi, DDS in 1989, and was the daughter of the late James D. and Helen R. (Philips) Patterson.
She was born in Oneonta, New York and lived in Garrison, New York for 35 years before moving to Wareham 12 years ago. Mrs. Briggi graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, New Jersey.
Mrs. Briggi was a dental assistant working alongside her husband many years before retiring.
She was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church, a member of the Wareham Garden Club, Tobey Hospital Guild and the Garden Club of America. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed photography. She won many awards for her floral displays. She was a loving grandmother and friend. She also enjoyed playing bridge.
Survivors include three sons, Lawrence J. Briggi and his wife, Mary-Pat of Croton, New York, Stephen J. Briggi and his wife, Lori of Wareham, and Christopher S. Briggi and his wife, Alicia of Roseville, California; a sister, Ann McGrath of New Bern, North Carolina; eight grandchildren, Daniel, Conor, Jack, Robert L., Cecilia, Curtis, Robert A. and Nicholas.
Her funeral will be held at 9 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 3 from the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway, Wareham, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Church, 82 High St., Wareham.
Visiting hours are from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
