Hurricane Preparedness Forum on July 31 at Wareham High School

A Hurricane Preparedness Forum will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 31 at the Wareham High School.

Meteorologist Bob Thompson from the National Weather Service will discuss the particular vulnerability of Wareham with regard to hurricanes.

Representatives from Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and other emergency response groups will be on hand to answer questions regarding their respective roles in times of disaster.

Representatives from Town of Wareham departments, including Municipal Maintenance, Water Pollution Control, Board of Health, Harbormaster, and Emergency Medical Services, as well as representatives from the Wareham Fire Department, Onset Fire Department, and the Wareham Police Department will be available to discuss their roles leading up to, during, and after a hurricane situation.

Board of Selectmen Chairman Steve Holmes will also be on hand at the event as will Emergency Management Director and Wareham Police Department Chief Richard Stanley.

Many emergency response vehicles will also be on display at the event.
