Indoor activities at this month's Main Street Madness
Main Street Madness returned on Friday afternoon with a small "business expo" inside Eastern Bank, guests artists at Twigs and Tides, Harry Potter fun at Bear and Pup's used bookstore and promotions by other businesses.
Businesses made do with the weather, which was cloudy and rainy up until the end of the event.
"We have activities you can do inside, but it's hard for other businesses that planned to do things outside," said Amanda Souza, the owner of Bear and Pup's Used Bookstore.
Children created spellbooks and wands at Bear and Pup's Used Bookstore in celebration of Harry Potter's upcoming birthday on July 31.
Rain dates aren't possible for Main Street Madness, said Traci Medeiros, since permits are only for the last Friday of every month.
Medeiros is one of the organizers of the event and owner of The Gallery Consignment Shoppe.
"Things kind of moved inside," she said.
Eastern Bank "turned into a business expo," according to bank manager Rose Berry.
Wareham Village Association, Mumma Mary's, and Minerva's Pizza were all inside the bank. Mumma Mary's handed out samples of meatballs while Minerva's pizza handed out free pizza slices.
"Our intention for next month is to be outside," said Donna Roderigues, employee at Eastern Bank and face painter during the event.
"If you want food, come around 2 p.m.," she advised.
Guest artist Barbara Meehan at Twigs and Tides said she did "very well." Meehan creates bracelets to raise awareness, support, and money for the Alzheimers Association.
The event will occur again on the last Friday of August.
