Irene Edgerly, 81

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Irene Edgerly share the passing of their loving mother, yiayia and sister on May 16 at 81 years of age. She was the youngest daughter of the late Markos and Olga Kourtis of Manchester N.H.

Irene was born and grew up in Manchester where she attended school and played the violin. Quite the artist and musician, she is credited for writing the music to her high school class song. She graduated the Tewksbury Hospital School as a LPN and enjoyed working as a nurse with disabled children at Lemuel Shattuck Hospital.

She struggled with many medical conditions throughout her lifetime. She most enjoyed family holiday get-togethers. It was her family devotion and religious faith that remained in the forefront.

Irene is survived by her sisters Anastasia Tsipopoulos and Helen Whiteside; her five loving children: Charles, his wife Cheryl, their children Cody and Julia: Katherine Bemis, her husband Glen, their children Glenda and Randal: John, his wife Christine, their children Mac, Kyra and Meiju: Joseph, his children Simone and Christopher: and Pamela Edgerly. Also, great -grandchildren Bruno and Julianna, and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tues. May 19 at the Chapman Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Hwy, Wareham, MA. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.

The funeral service will be held on Wed. May 20, 11:00 a.m. at St. George Greek Orthodox Church on 650 Hanover St. Manchester, NH. Interment will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Manchester, NH.
