James N. West of Palm Harbor, Florida, died suddenly Wednesday, July 2 at Mease Countryside Hospital. Jim was born and raised in Wareham and graduated Wareham High School in 1968.

He is the Son of the late Nelson H. (Jim) and Joan E. (Mc Kenzie) West.

He joined the Wareham Police Department in 1975, became a detective in 1984 and retired from the department in 1990. After retiring, he worked part time doing property management in Brockton before moving to Florida.

He enjoyed living in Florida, spending time with his children, grandchildren, golfing, on his computer, and dining out.

He is survived by his wife, Saranell (Mandell), his brother David C.West of New Bedford, his stepson Randy M. Jenney of Newport Richie, FL, his stepson Scott R. Jenney and his wife Christine of Hudson, FL, his daughter Jessica Lynn West of Clearwater, FL, his adopted daughter Jessica Lee West of Newport Richie, FL, his stepdaughter Jill M. Roy of Wareham, his stepson Joseph B. Roy of Mashpee, his grandchildren, Nicholas and Raymond Jenney, Erick Peterson Jr., Dyllon Tuff, and Sage Chouinard.

A private Memorial Service was held in July 6 in Florida.
