JBA Summer Basketball League round-up
The Wareham's Jason J. Andrade Memorial Summer Basketball League (JBA) is going strong in its fourth week. Here is a recap of the action on the court!
Division 1 Girls
On July 9 Nana's Ice Cream Parlor Liberty toppled the Bladez Hair Salon Sparks 31-15. Brianna Williams and Brianna Tavares scored 10 points apiece to lead the Liberty to the victory. Shaelyn Andrews added 7 points and Tiara Duarte finished the game with 4 points.
The Sparks were led by 8 points from Jamie McCormack. Paige Fehskens dropped in 4 points and Kendall Baptiste had 3 points.
Also on July 9, Carolee's Comedy Corner Storm took on the BBL Builders Lynx. That game was a forfeit.
Division 1 Boys
On July 9 the Cotter Machine Company Lakers narrowly defeated the J & M Realty Thunder 45-43.
Mark Pierrot's 20 points helped the Lakers claim the narrow victory. Koby Andrade scored 11 points and Jack Zine hit for 7 points. Jacob Freeman (5 points) and Darrion Santos (2 points) rounded out the team's offense on the day.
The Thunder fell just short of the win despite 17 points from Michael Labonte and 10 points from Jahmal Silva. Ashantay Tavares and Paris Pires each scored 6 points, while Quincy Aosa chipped in with 4 points.
Also playing in the Division 1 Boys league on Saturday the Onujiogu Grizzlies trampled Marc Anthony's Hornets 53-12.
Mathieu Griggs, Durell Barros, and Alberto Sanchez combined for 38 points as the Grizzlies stayed undefeated with their blowout win. Josh Onujiogu and Mason Lopes each scored 4 points. Alex Spinner and John Thomas finished the game with 2 points apiece.
Derek Guerrier scored 4 points for the Hornets. The quartet of Chris Perry, Deion Debarros, Anthony Gomes and Michael Gill each scored a basket to finish off their team's offensive output for the game.
Division 2 Boys
On July 9, the Salerno's Function Hall Eagles beat the Andrade Construction Wildcats 43-18.
Elijah McAllister's exploded for 18 points to power the Eagles past the Wildcats. Sonny Fernandes added 10 points, while Seth Andrade poured in 6 points. Joey Silvia scored 5 points on foul shots and Robert Ramsey hit for 3 points. Justin Lopes finished with 2 points.
Jonah Depina led the Wildcats with 7 points. Davis McCain added 5 points and Legend Fernandes scored 4 points. Vincent Silva-Pierce hit for a basket.
Also playing on July 9, the CDD Construction Friars crushed the Narrows Crossing Restaurant Huskies 47-15.
Seven players got into the scoring column for the Friars on their way to the win. Damien Perry Jr. led the way with 15 points with both Jamual Sims and Nick Perry scoring 9 points. John Todd and Gaige Madera scored 4 points apiece. Kyran Pina, Tyler Noe, and Desmond Powell each added 2 points.
Bryson Uhlman's 8 points led the Huskies. Tanner Carlson added 4 points and Dominic Mello scored 3 points.
