JBA Summer League results for week 2

Wareham JBA's Jason J. Andrade Memorial Summer Basketball League is in full swing! Here are results and recaps from week 2.

 

Saturday June 23rd, 2012

Division 2 Boys

Silvia's Concession Runnin' Rebels, 41; Cotter Machine Company Minutemen, 26

Seth Andrade scored 25 points to lead the Rebels to their second win. Joey Silvia added 8 points and Kaemen Thomas had 4 points. Beau Vasconcellos and Andre Silvia finished with 2 points apiece.

Tony Lopez had 11 points to lead the Minutemen. Jonah Depina added 8 points. Davis McCain scored 4 points. Richard Hagopian hit for 2 points and Desmond Powell hit a foul shot.

Nana's Ice Cream Parlor Demon Deacons, 37; Wareham Police Association Eagles, 29

The Demon Deacons duo of Justin Lopes (22 points) and Dominic Mello (12 points) led the team past the Eagles. Vincent Silva-Pierce scored 2 points and Tyler Noe had 1 point.

The Eagles got 11 points from James Tobey and 10 points from Bryce Fernandes. Marquez Tobey and John Todd added 4 points each.

 

Division 1 Boys

J & M Realty Hornets, 47; Narrows Crossing Grizzlies, 43

The Hornets edged out the Grizzlies with Damien Perry's 16 points leading the way offensively. Michael McAllister scored 10 points with Nick Pavilonis and Anthony Gomes chipping in 8 points each. Alandre Miranda finished the game with 3 points.

Despite missing 3 of the top offensive players, the Grizzlies kept the pressure on the Hornets behind a game high 30 points from Joshua Onujiogu. Terance Newell scored 5 points. Joshua Nawoichik and Brian Judge scored 3 points apiece and Michael Gill finished with 2 points.

Cotter Machine Company Thunder, 68; Marc Anthony's Bucks, 54

The Thunder's high powered offense was on display once again as Jahmal Silva and Durell Barros combined to score 51 points. Sonny Fernandes added 13 points and Gregory Pina scored 4 points.

The Bucks offense had some firepower going for itself, but fell short in the end despite 17 points from Koby Andrade and 14 points from Jovahn Thomas. John Thomas added 11 points. Travis Johnston hit for 9 points (3 three pointers) and Vincent Pina chipped in 2 points.

Sweet D Lakers, 41; Shirt Shack Bulls, 31

The Lakers rebounded from their season opening loss to knock off the Bulls. Tyler Rondeau led the Lakers with 15 points. T.J. Barboza scored 6 points and Dyondre Dominguez added 5 points. Jared Yates and C.J. Merritt finished with 4 points in the game while Stephen McCarthy hit for 3 points. Anthony Oliveira and Deion Debarros chipped in 2 points each.

The Bulls got 12 points from Ashantay Tavares and 7 points from Jamual Sims to pace their offense. Mason Lopes tallied 5 points and Alexx Rezendes scored 4 points. Vincent Gomes added 2 points and Marcus Monteiro hit a foul shot.

 

Division 1 Girls

Ann Marie Uva Storm, 27; Team Onujiogu Mercury, 16

The Storm picked up their first win of the season as they raced out to a 15-4 halftime lead. Jala Yates scored 8 points and Isabella Roberge added 7 points. Jillian Mello, Amber Borden and Blossom Roberge each hit for 4 points.

The Mercury couldn't overcome a rough start but got 9 points from Tieyanna Yancey and 7 points from Bailey Colon.

In Memory of David Silva Sparks, 30; Salerno's Function Hall Sky, 18

Last week, the Sparks lost by 29 points. This week, behind a game high 22 points from Erica Trask, they picked up their first win. Kali Fernandes scored 4 points while both Allison Maxim and Ann Marie Luppino scored 2 points.

The Sky's Gabrielle Lefrancois scored 8 points and Jamie McCormack added 7 points. Sasha Miceli rounded out the offense for the team with 3 points.
