John P. Maderos, known by “Pete” by all of his many friends, passed away following a long illness on Friday, May 5^th at Tobey Hospital. He was 81 years old.

Survivors include his loving wife of 29 years, Constance “Connie” Maderos; two daughters, Kerri Furtado of Bristol, RI and Susan Mello of Wareham, MA; two sisters, Christine West of Buzzards Bay, MA and Jane Lawlings of Falmouth, MA; two grandsons, Dylan Furtado of Bristol, RI and Mathew Miller of Buzzards Bay, MA; one granddaughter, Cassie Sumner; three beautiful great grandchildren; two nephews, Kenneth West of Buzzards Bay, MA and Jim West of Berlin, NH; two nieces, Rhonda and Debbie; stepdaughters Kathy Shea and Betty Gendron; and stepson Bill Silvers. Predeceased by stepsons Dan and David. Also, his little dog Abby, who was always by his side.

John built his career as an auto-body man, specializing in custom work. He restored many show cars over the years and won close to fifty trophies from car show he participated in. He took home the “Best Truck Award” at the 2006 All Wheels National Show on Cape Cod for his ’52 GMC panel truck.

A celebration of life will be held for family and friends at a later date.
